The Live In Peace Movement was born out of a profound and heartbreaking observation in our Detroit neighborhoods: our youth were becoming experts in grief. In 2013, Pastor Mo and our founding team saw too many young people wearing "R.I.P." t-shirts to memorialize friends and family lost to systemic violence. We realized that for a generation growing up in the shadow of poverty-produced violence, "Peace" was often seen as something you only achieve after you're gone. We decided to flip that narrative. We told our youth: "You don't have to die to be in peace." By ripping the "R" and leaving the "L," we created a movement dedicated to protecting the living and celebrating the dreams of those still here.
